Life Should Be a Journey

We all have bands and musicians where we like their older records better than their new ones, that's just the way life is, we can't like everything and they sure can't make music that is for everyone.

It's ok to not like something, and it's ok to say it out loud. But there is a difference between saying you don't like something and whining and complaining about it.

If their new music, looks or whatever isn't something for you, fine, don't listen to it. Or even better, realize that life is an endless stream of changes, your life, their life. They are living, breathing, human beings, and while you are complaining about how they were better before, they are out there living their life, doing their stuff, making new music, the music that they want to do here and now.

Most of us don't like when one of our favorite artists "change style", and sure, some of them probably do it for the money, but at the same time there are probably quite a few of them who change there style mostly because they are growing and evolving as human beings. Artists who are all about being themselves and doing their thing. And that is what it's all about. They are expressing themselves in whatever way they currently want to.

Instead of comparing the new to the old, listen... watch... try to see the beauty in those new songs. Or just keep listen to their old music and ignore the new tunes, that's alright too you know, it's just the public whining that I find pointless. :)

But to get to the point, just like they can't record new music that's more or less exactly the same, over and over again, we all should keep on going forward, not going stale. We have to dare ourselves to make that record which a lot of people might not like. And to be clear, I don't mean that everyone should be a musician, I mean "that record" in a symbolic kind of way.

If you are still more or less exactly the same you were 5 or 10 years ago, and are still doing more or less the same things, with the same people, and you're still behaving the same, listening to the same music and so on, then maybe it's time for you to take a few steps forward, out of your comfort zone. Maybe it's time for you to make something more out of your life. Maybe it's time for you to go out on a journey. Maybe it's time for you to make a tune that everybody will complain about. ;)

Life should be a journey, not an endless repeat!
