What Do You Expect?

Most people expect a lot from their friends, their colleagues, from life in general. But what's more important is this: What do you expect from yourself?

Our expectations of ourselves sets the bar for what we will accomplish. As the saying goes, you get out of life what you put in. And you put in what you expect from yourself. So raise your bar, don't wait for someone else to squeeze more out of you, do it because you want to do it, because you know you can.

Sometimes this will mean that you have to work harder, sometimes it will just mean that you work smarter. But working hard doesn't feel like hard work when it is something you do out of passion and love.

We can accomplish a lot more in life, without stress, without working ourselves to death, than most of us ever do. But if you don't expect a lot, neither from your life or yourself, then you won't get a lot done and you won't get a lot out of life.

Life is meant to be lived, but we don't live by avoiding to do things, the living is in the doing. And time will pass whether you do something useful or just sit yourself down and waste it.

So the question is, what do you expect from yourself?
