The Things We Regret in Life

2013-01-09 (Wednesday) by Mikael Linusson

Life is an almost endless stream of choices, from the day we are born, until the day we die. A lot of our choices is extremely small and we don't even think (consciously) about them, we just choose (i.e. we just let our subconscious mind choose based on how we have programmed it earlier in life). And then there are bigger, bigger and even bigger choices that we make in life, those that really can affect our life in one way or another.

And remember, not making a choice is also a choice.

What I'm going to say right now (or at least very soon *smile*) is mostly about those big and scary choices, but in some cases it even applies to the tiny unconscious choices we make.

So here it comes:

The things we usually regret is the things that we didn't do, not the things that we did do.

Let's read that again. :)

The things we usually regret is the things that we didn't do, not the things that we did do.

Sure, we all (I guess) have done something stupid that we really regretted for a day, a week, a month, or maybe even longer sometimes. But as time passes by, people most often seem to regret the things they never did, the things they didn't dare to do, the opportunities that got lost because they hesitated, the choice they were afraid to choose.

I don't mean that we should make crazy choices or totally stupid things, we got to think before we act, at least most of the time. But sometimes I think we let our fear of the unknown control our life way too much. Life is meant to be lived, not feared or regretted.

I repeat: Life is meant to be lived, not feared or regretted.

So don't let fear rule your life. Stop holding yourself back! Dare to be you! Dare to live the life you want to live! Dare to do those things that you have thought about for so long now!
